Marloth Park Nature Reserve has great guest facilities and is close to numerous top attractions. Guests can enjoy a Kruger Park safari, go shopping, eat prawns in Maputo or drive the Panoramic Route. Alegria Marloth Park is really well positioned within the reserve with easy access to everything on offer.
Kruger National Park
Guests can rise early and drive 15 minutes to the Crocodile Bridge entrance of Kruger Park, and then game view their way to Lower Sabie Camp for a super hot breakfast. Kruger has various self-drive options, routes and camps to explore.
Game viewing is best in the cooler times of the day on a Kruger Park safari. Night drives in the park can be booked with the Kruger Rangers, these generally depart late afternoon and take about 3 – 4 hours.
Sundowners at Alegria Marloth Park
There is a fence between Marloth and the Kruger Park but guests can still see many species including Lion coming down to the water to drink. Guests can elect a member from the group to drive to the Crocodile River with chairs and drinks on board and set up late afternoon sundowners along the banks, while the rest of the party walk to the river which takes 10 minutes.
Marloth Park
There is a fenced Game Reserve within Marloth Park which is called Lionspruit Game Park. The entrance is a 10 minute drive from the house. The park has Lion, Buffalo, Rhino, Hippo, Giraffe, Zebra and a host of other wildlife.
There are 2 small shops for basic supplies and a super Bush Bar (big screen TV) and Waterhole, about 5 minute drive from the house. Marloth also has a community centre with a swimming pool. A delicious dinner can be enjoyed at Phumbula Lodge which is also close to the cottage.
Local shopping and sightseeing
Malelane is the closest town, while Nelspruit is the main centre with an airport and lots of shopping facilities including a big mall. White River has quaint shops and an animal farm for pony rides and kids entertainment.
Scenic Hazy View has many great sights and guests can go tiger fishing or horse riding amongst other activities. The Panoramic Route consists of the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and other scenic splendours as well as interesting historic towns like Pilgrim’s Rest.
Neighbouring countries
Guests can pass through the Mozambique border and be in the capital Maputo in about 2 hours by car. This is the place for an exotic east African atmosphere and superb Tiger Prawns overlooking the Indian Ocean.
A trip to Swaziland can be done in a day, although the drive is quite long and a night or two away provides more time to take in the many attractions. Highlights include the famous Swazi Glass Factory, Swazi Candles, Guava Jewellery (beautiful hand made gold and silver jewellery), river rafting, golf and horse riding in the scenic Ezulwini Valley.
